Having difficulty with the ever-present question: “What’s for dinner?” We have a solution! At Redland Market Village we have a HUGE and diverse farmers market that is open Thursday through Friday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday through Sunday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm! Not only are the fruits and veggies more flavorful, but supporting local farms and families is a choice that benefits the entire community.
Healthy, natural and in season:
Small, local farms pick their healthy eats at the peak of ripeness so there are more savory or sweet nutrients when dinner hits the table. Plus, there is less travel time making your choices fresher by days or even weeks than most grocery or mega stores.
No farms, no food.
Small local farms are so important to the future of produce because they offer genetic diversity. If the majority of our food came only from a handful of farms; then a simple pest or fungus problem could have a devastating effect on our food supply. One of our small nearby farms could have a gene mutation that saves the future of corn!
Keep your money local.
Purchasing from neighborhood families almost assures that that same money will be put into another business in the area, thus growing the local economy. Small business owners typically support other small business owners whenever possible. Eventually, as the area’s companies grow, property value increases, schools, and parks get more funding and your neighborhood becomes more diverse and stable.
From spices to raw honey and even fresh cheese, Angie García’s corner, “Garcia Produce” is a stop you don’t want to miss!
